To start academic writing you should be well conversant with English and be good in grammar. In addition you also need to own an academic writing account or be working for someone. Some of the top academic writing accounts include Uvocorp, Academic experts, 4writers, Writers lab, Academia research etc. Article writing on the other hand is completely different from academic. In article writing there are no referencing guides to follow. Article writing accounts are easier to apply for as compared to academic writing. Textmaster.com - Accepts international writers. You will be required to provide a unique writing sample when applying. Pay is made through PayPal when you have written articles amounting to at least $70.
The Content Authority - Be ready to write a unique 150 word sample article when
applying as a writer on this site. Payment is based on how you have been rated as a
writer on the site. The pay per article varies from $1-$7.
Constant-Content - This site allows you to sell any unique articles you have to interested buyers. Constant Content accepts international writers. They pay writers through PayPal.
CrowdSource – They pay writers through PayPal. A writing test is required before you can be accepted into their writing team.
Content Corp - It states on their site that they accept freelance writers worldwide. The pay rate is not listed on the site. I have applied for this one but never gotten a response but you can try your luck.
Contently – They accept writers worldwide. Also a good site to create your writers
portfolio.
Content Current – Pay varies from $5-$8 for 300-500 word articles. They do not have
regular writing projects so you have to keep checking the site regularly. Sometimes,
they send an email to writers when they have a lot of articles to be written. They pay
through PayPal. You will be expected to write a unique sample during application. The
writing request will be sent to the email address you used when registering on the site,
so make sure to check your email right after you have signed up. If you do not
complete the writing sample in time, you cannot apply as a writer on the site again
using the same email address.
Daily Article – You can sell any unique articles you have on this site. The articles should not have been published anywhere before.
Developer Shed – If you like technology and you like writing 'How To Do stuff' tutorials,
then this is the site for you.
Distance Web- They need copywriters. You will be required to provide any existing writing samples you have.
Edit Fast – Pays upfront- The site keeps 40% of the money that clients pay and you keep 60% of the pay. They pay writers once a month.
Freelance -Writers – They pay writers on a weekly basis.
Fiverr - A site where you can sell your writing and editing services for $5. You can list various services that you have for sale.
Green Light Articles – They pay writers on a weekly basis through PayPal. Submit a
writer application through their website. They often don't have work, so you will have to
keep checking your writer's account. Writers have 3 hours to complete any writing
tasks they pick from the job board. Pay starts from $0.01 to $0.02 per word.
Greatcontent.co.uk- It states on the site that they only accept UK writers, but I applied
and was accepted. Article pay starts from £3 an article. Payment depends on your
writer rating.
Ghost-Bloggers - A site similar to Constant-Content, where you can sell any articles you have. You must not have used or sold the articles anywhere else before.
Han n Mod - Pay is $10-$40 per article. This site is best for writers who like
Do It Yourself projects. You will need to send 2 sample articles, which are similar in
style to the kind of articles on their site.
iWriter - Pay varies from $2-$10. You can just sign up on the site using your email
address and start taking orders. You do not need to fill out any applications or provide
any writing samples. They pay writers through PayPal. Payment is done on a weekly
basis.
Independent-Publishing - Open to writers from all over the world. Be prepared to
provide a 100-150 word unique sample content.
King Tutz – They accept tutorials. You have to pitch an article and wait for approval
before you can go ahead and write the article according to their writer guidelines on
the site. Pay varies from $50 to $300 per article.
Letter Rep - If you can write letters, then sign up on this site and get paid $10 for each
letter you write and is sold.
London Brokers – They pay writers twice a week through PayPal. Pay ranges from $3-$6 per set of 3 articles. Be prepared to do an English grammar test. If you are accepted,you will be allowed to work on one client order. If you write a good article then yourwriter quota is increased and you can pick up more articles from the content pool. The type of articles they require need 1 original article and 2 rewrites.
Love to Know -They pay writers $20-$25 per accepted article. The site concentrates on family type of articles. They accept writers from all over the world. I applied on this site but I have not yet gotten a response. You will need your CV and two writing samples when applying.
Mturk - It is affiliated to Amazon. I applied but my application was turned down. They
pay through Amazon gift certificates. Only US and Indian writers are paid through
check.
Need An Article – They pay writers on a weekly basis through PayPal. At the time of
writing this ebook, their website stated that they did not need any more writers. However, you can leave your email address if you are interested in being contacted when they need more writers.
Next Wave Advocacy – They pay $13 per hour. Part of their technical requirements
Includes, a PC headset with microphone and a fast Internet connection.
Review Me – You are paid when you write reviews of various products or services on your website. You need to have your own website/blog, which must meet certain
specifications before you can be allowed to join their review team. They accept writers from all over the world.
Student Experts - Open to writers worldwide. They pay $8 to $12 per article. I applied for this one but not yet gotten a response.
Scribendi.com- If you like proofreading, then this is a good site for you. Payments are
made through PayPal. You need a Bachelor's degree and three years of writing or
editing experience.
Scripted.com – Pay per article varies, depending on the project. Some of the projects vary from $30-$100. Payment to writers is made every Friday through
PayPal.
Sponsoredreviews.com- You must have your own website/blog to be accepted to their
writing team. You will be paid to post reviews on your blog.
Vivilia - Accepts international writers. You must write a sample article for each
category you want to be accepted into. The samples must be original and have never
been published elsewhere before. They pay $3-$20 depending on your writer level.
They pay writers through PayPal, Western Union and Bank Transfer.
Wise Geek - Accepts international writers. I applied but was not accepted. Try your luck. Pay varies from $10-$13 per article.
World Start – If you are knowledgeable about computers, software and tech related stuff then this is a good site to write for. Pay varies from $25-$50. Pay is through PayPal or cheque.
Zemandi - Open to writers from all over the world. They pay via PayPal every week, as
long as you have written articles worth $20. The pay varies from $0.40 per 100 words
to $3.50 per100 words, depending on your writer level. You pick articles from the
queue. The only problem with this site is that you do not get to see the articles you will
be assigned, as projects are given out randomly. You can choose to work on an
assignment or reject it. It is pretty easy to sign up and start writing.
With such a long list of websites, writers have told me that they get confused and don’t know where to start. I would recommend 2 websites where you can easily get started. London Brokers and iwriter. You can then gradually apply to any other site that you are interested in.
